After failing to secure any domestic silverware last season, Vipers Sports Club are in a race against time to revamp their squad ahead of the 2019/2020 season, they always do around this time.
Vipers SC struggled for dominance last season at both domestic and continental level despite raising their hope so high at both fronts.
In a bid to return on top, the Entebbe based side are already using the open transfer window to recruit new players that can help them achieve their objectives.
It’s reported that the 2017/2018 Uganda Premier League champions have already landed their first signing in Paul Willa who has joined the venoms on a three years deal from Police FC
Now their focus turns to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA FC) Skipper Shafik Kuchi Kagimu who has more than 12months left on his contract.
The Venoms’ interest in Kagimu portrays a picture that they’re looking forward to strengthening their midfield especially going forward, at a time when the future of Moses Waiswa at the club is uncertain.
“True. My client has been approached by Vipers Sports Club but he still has a valid contract at URA FC,” Kagimu’s agent was quoted by Airtel Football.
“But again, we can still sit down and talk business because his contract was designed with a buy-out clause,” the agent added. Kagimu’s known agent is Tushar Ruparelia much as the publication doesn’t say saw
Kagimu scored eight goals and recorded six assists in all competitions for the tax collectors last season and he has also been with the Uganda Cranes team that bowed out of the 2019 COSAFA tournament in South Africa.
Vipers SC finished as runners up whereas Kagimu’s current employers URA FC finished third in the 2018/2019 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
