KCCA FC missed a penalty in a 1-0 loss to newly promoted Maroons FC in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League at Luzira Prisons Grounds on Friday.
The visitors should have broken the deadlock at the half-hour mark but Congolese striker Simon Tshisungu Kankonde was denied by the woodwork through a penalty.
After the game, KCCA’s head coach Morley Byekwaso revealed the club’s penalty takers in pecking order: “We have around three to four penalty specialists and Kankonde is amongst them.”
“The first is Julius Poloto but he was not on the pitch by the time we got the penalty.”
“Moses Waiswa is the second option but he did not have the confidence and it went to Kankonde who is the third option.”
“We were far from it and we could not change it but, it was right for the player with the composure to take it, unfortunately, he missed it.”
Kankonde’s penalty miss proved to be costly to the Kasasiro Boys, they were made to pay the price when Fred Amaku handed the hosts the lead in the 65th minute and that was the difference between the two teams.
The Lugogo-based outfit have so far played four games and managed two victories and two defeats.
They edged Wakiso Giants and Vipers 3-2 and 1-0 respectively while they lost 3-1 to Arua Hill before the 1-0 loss to Maroons.
KCCA find themselves in the eighth position on the 15-team SUPL log with six points and up next is a home game against debutants Blacks Power on November 5th.
