As the Uganda National Football Team, the Cranes prepare to play a friendly game with an Eastern Region select team, the head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has summoned a group of locally based players for this cause.
The game will be hosted at the Mbale Municipal Stadium this Saturday, 25th September 2021 and will not entertain players from Express FC, BUL FC and Vipers SC who have engagements in the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
This leaves room for URA and KCCA to dominate the squad with nine and eight players respectively. The other clubs in the topflight league fill up the remaining nine spots.
The record 16-time Uganda Premier League champions SC Villa have had only two representatives, while Police FC, UPDF FC, Solitiro Bright Stars, Wakiso Giants and Mbarara City have just a single player on the team.
The league debutants Arua Hill have no player on the team along with Tooro, Busoga United and West Nile side Onduparaka FC who have made it a trend to let go of their best players every single season.
The team enters residential camp on Thursday, 23rd September 2021 at the Cranes Paradise Hotel, Kisaasi and will depart for Mbale on Friday morning ahead of the match slated for this weekend.
Micho on the other hand highlights this as being the commencement of the preparations for the Rwanda double-header World Cup Qualifier matches (away on 7th October and at home on 10th October 2021).
