URA FC defeated Police FC 3-1 at the Ndejje Arena of Visions – Bombo to return to the top of the Uganda Premier League (UPL) table.
Before URA played, Vipers SC beat SC Villa 3-1 to temporarily climb onto the top of the standings.
URA has now completed a league double against Police. The tax Collectors won 2-0 away at Lugogo in March.
Striker Steven Mukwala came close for URA after 30 minutes, hitting the post before he finally put URA ahead five minutes later, banging in his 12th of the season.
Just two minutes into the second half, Joachim Ojera doubled the lead for Sam Ssimbwa’s side.
After an hour, Cromwell Rwothomio scored the third to seal URA’s victory and ensure they return to the league summit above Vipers.
Fahad Kizito pulled one back for the Cops, but it was too late with only three minutes left to play on the clock.
Elsewhere, Eric Kambale’s goal from the penalty in the 22nd minutes was enough to secure maximum points for Express against UPDF at Wankulukuku.
After 24 matches, the title race is still as open for the front three teams on the table. Only a point separates URA (54), Vipers (53) and Express (52.
In their next two UPL fixtures, URA takes a trip away to Kyetume before hosting UPDF at Ndejje. Vipers will host Mbarara City before travelling away to Bright Stars.
Express will first travel to play Busoga United before hosting bottom side Kitara.
