StarTimes Uganda Premier League record champions Sports Club Villa are on a bend, one for the better, having ended their losing streak against Nyamityobora last week.
The Nsambya based side will hope to pick a second straight win and third first at home when they host stubborn Maroons FC at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Thursday evening.
Both Villa and Maroons have managed one win in nine outings each this season and are separated by a point with 11th placed Villa on seven while 14th placed Maroons are on six.
New tactician Douglas Bamweyana will hope that midfielders Ambrose Kirya, Albert Mugisa, Edgar Luzige and Joseph Ssemujju have the spark or even a better than the one they showcased against Nyamityobora.
Bamweyana will also hope that striker Pius Wangi and Bashir Mutanda can run in those channels in search for a breakthrough
Shafik Bakaki and Yusuf Mukisa looked solid at the heart of defence while, they will be required to show up today too.
Meanwhile, Maroons are almost averaging a goal every game having managed eight in nine outings but they have shipped in 14 in total.
The lead striker Herman Wasswa has only managed one this season, it’s Agau Rashid who has tried to show up so far, he has four to his name.
A win for Villa will keep them at the same spot but will take them to 10 points while three points for Maroons will take them to nine points and out of the relegation zone.
