World class footballers serve as inspirations to millions of their fans and upcoming players all over the world.

Their enthusiasm, talent, and charisma are some of the significant attributes that bring out admiration from the fans who look up to them and consider them idols in their lives.

Actually many upcoming players have modelled their game and style around their football heroes.

In this case, Vipers SC marauding left-back Aziz Kayondo has found himself an admirer of Real Madrid and Brazil left-back Marcelo Vieira da Silva Júnior.

The senior five student at St Mary’s Kitende is aiming at creating a legacy just like his idol.

“I love the way Brazil and Real Madrid’s Marcelo Vieira plays. His skills, runs and style are unique,” Kayondo was quoted by the club’s official website

Kayondo made his debut at Vipers senior team in February 2019 against Tooro United FC and due to his terrific performance, he was voted the Pilsner Man of The Match.

His qualities in overlapping, reactivity and skill cemented him a starting place at the club since then making him one of the youngsters to watch out for in Ugandan football.

“Am happy and thankful to the Almighty God for this great opportunity. I also feel special because there are many good players but the coaches trust and believe in me that I can contribute something to the team.”

“A lot has changed since my debut game. My confidence has greatly improved which has boosted my performance on the pitch,” he added.

Just like most footballers, Kayondo’s dream is to play for the national team as well as being the best in the league.

“The future starts now for me. I have plenty to achieve like being the best player in the league and playing both on the National team and in Europe for the best clubs.”

Despite being a starter in a big club like Vipers, Kayondo faces the challenge of balancing books and football but believes that concentration will enable him to achieve the two.

“I have to attend class first then train with the club later. It is demanding and requires focus but am doing my best to attain both.”

“The competition in the senior team is very stiff and you must always be the best among your competitors to play,” he noted.

Kayondo who also captained Vipers’ U19 side in the FUFA Junior League is aiming at building on his performance last season so as to help his team reclaim the Uganda Premier League in the upcoming 2019/2020 season.
