Vipers bids to return to winning ways as they host Bright Stars

By Football256 Team

Vipers SC are looking forward at getting back to the winning eminence when they host Bright Stars at St Mary’s Stadium Kitende on Friday evening.

The Venoms have failed to get a win in their last two StarTimes Uganda Premier League games, they lost 3-1 to SC Villa at home before an away one all stalemate with Tooro United.

The visitors will also aim at getting their first ever win against Vipers and end their five league match winless streak.

They lost to Tooro United before drawing with Onduparaka, SC Villa, KCCA and Mbarara City respectively.

Bright Stars come into the encounter boasting with confidence after their 2-1 win over URA at the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 16 game played on Monday at Namboole

Friday’s game will be the 12th league meeting between the two sides, the Venoms have managed four wins and the remaining seven ended in stalemates.

Out of the previous 11 encounters, Vipers have scored seven goals while Bright Stars have managed only three in return.

The two sides played to a barren draw when they met at the Champions Stadium Mwererwe in the first round of the league earlier this year.

It also happened to be the first game for head coach Michael Nam Ouma who replaced the sacked Javier Martinez Espinoza.

Bright Stars coach Fred Kajoba has faced Vipers on 21 different occasions, he has managed four wins, six draws and has lost 11 times. But on Friday he will be looking for his first win over the Venoms as a Bright Stars tactician.

All Kajoba’s four wins against the Kitende based club came during his stint at army side Simba SC.

Vipers will be without Geoffrey Wasswa who is suffering from ankle injury, Bashir Asiku and Livingstone Mulondo are also sidelined with injuries.

The league holders are currently second on the 16 team log with 38 points, a win for the Venoms will close the gap between them and table leaders KCCA up to four points.

A win for Bright Stars will lift them to eighth on the table, they are currently 10th with 24 points from 19 outings.
