Champions Vipers SC will be looking to break their poor outings against Mbarara City FC with a positive performance on Tuesday in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The Venoms are winless in their last five encounters against the boys from the West but will hope to emerge victorious this time round to further push their title defence.

Fred Kajoba’s side has managed four stalemates and lost once in the previous five encounters against Charles Livingstone Mbabazi’s team.
In March’s first leg, Henry Kitegenyi powered tomorrow’s visitors to a valuable 1-0 victory in their first-ever win against Vipers.

Vipers has also failed to win any of their three previous home matches. They have drawn against leaders URA SC and Wakiso Giants and have lost to Express FC in between.

However, in their latest outing, they beat rivals SC Villa 3-1 at the Bombo Military Barracks on Saturday, courtesy of strikes from Bobosi Byaruhanga, Paul Mucureezi and topscorer Yunus Sentamu.

At St Mary’s Stadium tomorrow, a home win or a draw will take them to top spot on 58 points. They will then stick their eyes on Wednesday’s URA visit to Nakisunga against relegation-bound Kyetume FC.

Mbarara city, who beat Onduparaka FC 2-1 in their last game could go up to eighth on 32 points with a victory at Kitende.

Kajoba has rotated his squad quite well and has managed to avoid injuries to key players. Yunus Sentamu is expected to lead the line yet again.

It remains to be seen if Paul Mucureezi will retain his starting spot after a man of the match performance against Villa. He has started most of the league games off the bench.

For Mbarara, captain Hilary Mukundane missed their win against Onduparaka through injury and could miss a second successive game.

Striker Bashir Mutanda should start this one after coming off the bench to score on Saturday taking his tally to two in three matches.
