Five-time Uganda Premier League champions, Vipers SC have completed a swoop of two Democratic Republic of Congo natives, Gracia Mpongo Mbombo and Darcy Mabaka Kipoyi.
The duo have penned down a two-year contract apiece that will keep them at Kitende at least until 2024.
They now make it five Congolese nationals and six foreign players in total, at the St Mary’s Stadium.
In the recently concluded transfer window, the two-time Uganda Cup winners signed Rodriguez Shamamba, Alfred Macumu Mudekereza and Olivier Osomba from Congo.
They also added Nigerian forward Abubakar Lawal, in a rout for a strong show in the CAF Champions League group stages.
Meanwhile, Mbombo is an attacking midfielder, who has previously featured for Breme RCK (DRC), Etoile du Congo (Congo Brazaville) and Desportivo de Huila, Porcelena FC, Progresso Da Luanda in Angola.
He also previously plied his trade at DRC’s DCMP and FC St Eloi Lupopo, in an already industrious young career.
Mbombo has been through the DRC national team setup as he has previously received four U-17 and two U-23 selections.
On the other hand, Kipoyi is a 27-year old forward, who has previously featured for Kada Sport, FC Lupopo, Nzakimuena, Sanga-Balende and Lusaka Dynamos.
He also played for Club Barnet de Anglaise, DCMP and FC Renaissance du Congo in his native, DRC.
It awaits to be seen whether the duo will feature for the Venoms in the first half of the season domestically.
With the Champions League group stages slated to kickstart in February 2023, it’s clear they will feature should Roberto Oliveira deem them good enough for slots.
