Straight from a comfortable victory away to Kitara FC, Vipers SC entertains Wakiso Giants at the St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Tuesday, April 20, in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

The Venoms currently sit at the apex of the league table with 42 points, joint with URA SC but ahead by goal difference.

They will be looking to extend their lead if they overcome the Purple Sharks in what will make it five consecutive league wins on the bounce.

However, the encounter at St Mary’s comes as no easy job with either club harbouring their specific ambitions in the game.

Vipers has met Wakiso three times previously; the Kitende outfit has triumphed once, drawing and losing the other. In the reverse fixture this season, the defending champions could only master a one-all draw against the Purple Sharks.

Shaban Muhammad who is now serving a club disciplinary suspension was on the score sheet for his first of the club since joining them in 2019. Vianney Ssekajugo levelled matters as the game withered by.

Fred Kajoba will have no room for slip-ups with URA closely waiting to snatch the advantage if they falter at home.

Kajoba has rotated his squad pretty well throughout this season but Yunus Ssentamu who is in the form of his life is expected to lead the line.

Burundian goalkeeper Fabien Mutombora will still sit out this one through suspension after picking up red for punching teammate Aziz Kayondo against Busoga United last week.

Ibrahim Orit returned against Kitara and made an instant impact, claiming an assist to his name. Paul Mucureezi who has been an impact substitute for the biggest part of the season could also play a crucial role.

Wakiso Giants on the other hand will hope to build on their win against Onduparaka on Saturday in what was head coach Douglas Bamweyana’s third league win of the season.

They sit 13th, only six points ahead of the relegation zone but a victory in Kitende could see them move up to 10th on the 16-team log.
