Wadada’s Azam knocked out of the domestic cup by Simba

Simba SC booked a semi-final berth in the Tanzanian FA Cup after a 2-0 win over defending champions Azam FC on Wednesday night at the National Stadium in Dar-es-salaam.

Captain and forward John Raphael Bocco opened the scoring for Simba in the 40th minute before midfielder Clatous Chama Junior sealed the deal after recess guiding Mzimbazi to the semi-finals and also keeping their hopes for a double alive.

Uganda Cranes right-back Nicolas Wadada featured in the entire game but didn’t pose any serious questions.

The roving ex-Vipers right back who renewed his stay at Chimanzi in January has had a tremendous season managing 10 assists across all competitions.

Simba will now play against sworn rivals Yanga Africans in the first semi-final, while Sahare All Stars and Namungo will contest the other semi-final.

Azam who sit third on the 20-team log are just a point behind second-placed Yanga Africans and will now shift their focus to try leapfrog Yanga into second in the remaining six games of the seasons for the remaining CAF Champions League slot.
