Crested Cranes captain and goalkeeper Ruth Aturo is the latest player to join the camp as preparations for the 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations continue.
Aturo arrived on Saturday from her club side Kotkan Työväen Palloilijat (FC KTP) in Finland.
The goal-minder was key in Cranes’ qualification for WAFCON when she saved a penalty against Ethiopia.
Aturo was absent for the 2022 CECAFA Women’s Championship which acted as a preparatory tournament.
Never mind her absence, her colleagues did a good job and won Uganda’s maiden CECAFA title while unbeaten.
The CECAFA triumph is a huge motivation as the Cranes return to the continent for the first time since 2000.
The Crested Cranes depart on Tuesday for Marrakesh Morocco for a ten day training camp before the commencement of the competition.
George Lutalo’s charges are pooled in Group A alongside hosts Morocco, Burkina Faso, and Senegal.
Uganda’s first game will be against Senegal on Sunday, July 3 at a competition that kicks off on Saturday, July 2 to Saturday, July 22.
