Wakiso Giants board has approved a budget of UGX 800M (approx. USD 216,000) for the 2020/21 season during their Annual General Meeting held at the club house in Najjanankumbi, Entebbe road on Monday.
The Purple Sharks who finished the 2019/20 season 10th on the Uganda Premier League table in their maiden season after gaining promotion in 2019, bagged UGX 2.5M as prize money from the league.
It should be noted that just like other UPL clubs, the club is yet to receive funds for the last quarter from StarTimes as part of the sponsorship package deal.
The side have already engaged in the transfer business and set to spend big on salaries (and allowances), transport and match-day programs among others.
The Purple Sharks have already acquired coach Douglas Bamweyana, midfielder Ibrahim ‘Owen’ Kasule, Pius Kaggwa and defender Edward Satulo during this transfer window.
The side is also expected to announce the signing of SC Villa goalkeeper Samson Kirya who has been on their radar for a long time.
In the AGM, Chris Evans and Company were also appointed as the external auditors for the club. The financial statements for the concluded 2019/20 season were also approved.
Some of the attendants included club president Musa ‘Atagenda’ Ssebulime, Sula Kamoga (Chief Executive Officer), Ismael Kiyonga (Head of Cooperate Affairs), Directors Lule Hassan and Ahmed Mbabi.
FUFA was represented by Humphrey Mandu and former Referee Ali Tomusange.
Ahmed Ddamulira (Company Secretary), Sinan Waiswa (Fans Chairman), Arafat Kasolo (Fans Coordinator) and other club officials attended the AGM.
