Vipers SC striker Diego Hamis Kiiza has the belief that Vipers is still in the title race and can compete favourably despite defeat at the hands of Ndejje Lions last Tuesday.
Vipers lost 2-1 at the Arena of Visions and in the process failed to narrow the gap between them and table leaders KCCA FC who played to a one-all draw against Tooro United at Buhinga Stadium the following day.
“We have to bounce back and pick ourselves up, there were some positives from Tuesday’s game, despite the result,” Kiiza posted on his Twitter account.
“We don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves, the result was not what we hoped for, we have to pick ourselves up and fix this,” he added.
Vipers failed to replicate the perfect performance against Express which saw them smash the George Ssemwogerere coached side 2-0 win at St Mary’s Stadium last week.
The loss was a very big setback in the Venoms’ title defence and remain glued at 45 points, four behind the table leaders KCCA FC with seven games to go.
The league’s destiny seems completely out of Vipers’ hands as they will now have to rely on other teams to tilt it back in their favour.
The Michael Nam Ouma coached side host Maroons at St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende in their next league match on March 27th.
