Wakiso Giants goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi asserts that they cannot stop dreaming big despite their Stanbic Uganda Cup loss against Kyetume FC at Nakisunga ground on Sunday.
Kyetume ejected Wakiso Giants out of the 2018/2019 competition at the quarterfinal stage following a 4-1 post-match penalty shoot that proceeded a goalless 120 minutes.
However, Mugabi doesn’t believe that exiting the competition will have an adverse effect on the team as they quest Uganda Premier League promotion.
“From the beginning, our priority wasn’t lifting the Uganda Cup and we are proud of how far we have reached in the competition,” Mugabi told the club’s official website.
With two appearances, the custodian has been superb in goal since overtaking Ivan Mutumba and believes the team is in a better position to achieve their main target.
“The exit can’t be destruction to our campaign, we are more than focused and the target is achievable if we continue working hard,” he noted
The Purple Sharks will host the same opponent in their next Fufa Big League fixture on Thursday, March 21 in Bugembe, eager to widen the gap at the top.
Wakiso Giants are still on the top of the Elgon Group of the StarTimes Big League with 32 points while Kyetume is on 26 points in the second position, with six games to go.
