We have enough depth within our squad to win us games – Golola

By Football256 Team

Vipers SC head coach Edward Golola believes that his side have enough depth within their squad that will enable them to fulfill their ultimate target of winning this season’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League title.

According to Golola, all the players in his squad have the ability to perform well if given the chance to play and it is the reason why the Venoms are still unbeaten in the league after 12 games.

“It is important to us to have a big squad with players that have the ability to perform, well whenever they are called upon. This was evident in our game against URA FC,” Golola told football-256.

“I believe this will help us in achieving our target because we may miss players due to injuries or other commitments but if we have players that can fill voids, that is satisfying,” he added.

The Kitende based club managed to win against URA FC in their previous league encounter, despite being without five of their starters.

Their lethal striker Fahad Bayo and skipper Halid Lwaliwa were on national duty with the Uganda Cranes, the same as Fabien Mutombora with Burundi.

Meanwhile, youngsters Bobosi Byaruhanga and Abdul Karim Watambala are currently sitting for their A’ Level examinations.

Therefore, Derrick Ochan replaced Mutombora in goal, Geoffrey Wasswa who played alongside Bashir Asiku at the heart of defence, while Abraham Ndugwa and Rahmat Ssenfuka replaced Watambala and Byaruhanga respectively and did the job well.

Golola was impressed by their performance especially Wasswa who was making his first start this season after being sidelined for a long period with an injury.

“We are impressed to see him slowly regaining his composure and we do not want to rush him. Against URA FC, he played well and showed no signs of struggle meaning he is now back to full fitness,” he noted.

Vipers will visit KCCA FC at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo on Saturday November 16th aiming at maintaining their unbeaten run in the league.
