While George Weah took home the FIFA World Player of the Year Award on the night of January 8, 1996 and the 1995 Ballon d’Or, he never got close to qualifying for the world’s biggest platform, the World Cup.

However, after 26 years, his son Timothy Weah did not only make his World Cup debut at Qatar 2022 but also scored off Christian Pulisic’s delivery in their one-all stalemate with Wales.

George Weah was present on Tuesday inside the Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium as he watched his son reach a mark he failed to achieve, at only 22 years.

Currently, George Weah is the president of Liberia and the son was scoring for the USA but, it will not take away any inch of joy and happiness for the great family moment.

It is evident George Weah was proud of his son’s show, USA’s defender Tim Ream was equally impressed with the 22-year-old forward.

“I am impressed with the trimming of his runs, Weah is so fantastic,” Ream told the press shortly after full-time.

“It was a great slip-in from Pulisic and then a cool finish with the outside of his righ

t. He is an exciting player and to see him get his reward in that way was fantastic,” he added.

Timothy Weah was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 22, 2000. He resisted chances of representing Liberia, Jamaica, and France, sticking with his choice to play for the USA.

“I am American,” he said in one of his previous interviews; “I love my country. I dream of playing for the senior national team. I dream of winning and playing in the World Cup.”

The USA are now at a point after one game. In the next game, the USA will face Iran on Tuesday, November 29. They are in Group B with England, Wales, and Iran.
