‘Win against Onduparaka not special’ – Sam Simbwa

By Football256 Team

If there is a team that always gives Onduparaka the hardest times at their Green Light stadium, Arua, is Uganda Revenue Authority.

The tax collectors continued their unbeaten run over their West Nile rivals, picking up a 2-1 victory on Tuesday evening. incidentally, it was their first win against Onduparaka in Arua, after the last three games ended in stalemates.

Cromwell Rwothmio netted twice for URA either side of the half time break to ensure the caterpillars are brought a to earth, as they enjoyed quite a brilliant run of results, winning their last four league games on the bounce.

URA coach Sam Ssimbwa however, is not one to dwell in the plaudits thrown against his team, downplaying the victory over a club who had conceded just once in six league games.

“We deserved to win the match because to be sincere, we outsmarted them all the way from first whistle to the end,” Simbwa, told

Ssimbwa further noted that victory over Onduparaka is not as special, because he was sure beforehand that his team would either pick up a win, or a draw judging by the history of the fixtures, despite his side failing to win any of their last four games.

“Winning against Onduparaka isn’t special because ever since my tenure commenced, they’ve not defeated us. We demonstrated our superiority by dominating in duels and flair except I am just disappointed because we could have scored more than two goals.” Ssimbwa added.

Onduparaka grabbed a late goal from the spot through captain Gadafi Wahab, past goalkeeper Alionzi Nafian, who was a second half substitute for James Alitho.

Ssimbwa made a surprise change, bringing off Alitho for Nafian in the 70th minute, despite the former not carrying any discomfort and putting on a stable performance to that point. But the coach was not impressed with what he was seeing from his keeper.

“Alitho had a poor game you could see and that’s the reason we substituted him,

“We always have a second keeper on the bench, and whoever doesn’t play well is replaced. I am surprised after removing Alitho, he cried as if he has a permanent position in the team,”

The out-spoken tactician also mentioned that Alionzi may keep his place in the team, and that it might take a while for Alitho to regain his spot if Alionzi keeps performing the way he did.
